King George VI and Queen Elizabeth toured Crewe culminating at Crewe Alexandra Football Ground (Featured on Pathe News) where the band provided the musical entertainment. The Queen also toured other parts of the North West during her visit.
(Some biographies of the band put the above date in 1941 but the band diary date says 29th August 1940)
